Ingrid Returns

Ingrid Bergman, the Swedish girl who was Hollywood's top actress last year, has arrived in Britain.

This is her first visit to Europe since, unknown and as silent as her star countrywoman Greta Garbo, she slipped away in 1939 to try her luck in America.

She comes back for two reasons. First, to make a film under the direction of her friend Alfred Hitchcock, who returns to Elstree for the purpose.

The title is "Under Capricorn."

Second reason is that she wants to visit Sweden again for a holiday.

Her husband, Dr Peter Lindstrom, a neurologist, has many relatives there. She lias few.

Her parents died when she was a child and she was brought up bv an aunt who is now dead.
