Abstract

Discusses the roles of the sexes in film music and how particular female characters' roles are characterized by the tone and mood of the music being played during the character's scene. Includes an in-depth analysis of the role of music in Hitchcock's film "Vertigo" and how the characters and moods of the female characters are illustrated and conveyed by the music itself. Also includes examples of music to illustrate these points.
