Janet Leigh to appear live at theater

Janet Leigh of movie fame, now also a published author, will be in downtown Dayton Oct. 28-29. And while it may not be a party, it certainly will be a festival.

In fact Larry Smith, manager of the New Neon Movies, 130 E. Fifth St., has organized the "Janet Leigh Film Festival" to be held both Saturday and Sunday and showcase Leigh in her role as a film star and give her a chance to sell of her some books.

The festival will include three of the best films ever made, according to the Los Angeles Times Top Films of All Time list, and three of the actress' personal favorites.

Leigh will introduce each showing of Psycho , The Manchurian Candidate and Touch of Evil with background information only someone close to the film would know.

After the movie, she will answer questions from the audience and be available for photo taking and signing copies of her books. Titles of the books are Psycho: Behind the Scenes of the Classic Thriller written with Christopher Nickens, selling for $22 plus tax and House of Destiny, story of building a Hollywood empire, $19.95 plus tax.

Psycho is the Alfred Hitchcock thriller which won Leigh an Academy Award nomination. It will be shown three times Saturday, 2:30, 6 and 9:15 p.m. Tickets for the first show are $8 adults day of show or $6 in advance; and $6 day of show seniors and children day of show or $4 in advance. Tickets for the 6 and 9:15 p.m. shows are $10 day of show adult and $8 in advance and $8 seniors and children, day of show and $6 in advance.

On Sunday the first film is Manchurian Candidate at noon. Ticket prices are $8 adults day of show ann $6 in advance; seniors and children $6 day of show or $4 in advance.

Ticket prices are the same for Touch of Evil schedules at 3 p.m.

Final showing of Psycho will be at 6 p.m. with ticket prices $10 adults and $8 in advance; seniors and children $8 day of the show and $6 in advance.
