Biography

Anna Massey (1937–2011) was a British actress.

She made her film debut in 1958 and went on to appear in Michael Powell's Peeping Tom (1960) and in Alfred Hitchcock's Frenzy (1972), but became better known as a television actress, appearing in classic dramas such as The Pallisers (1974), the 1978 adaptation of Rebecca (in which she starred along with her ex-husband, Jeremy Brett) and The Mayor of Casterbridge (1978). She was also the narrator of This Sceptred Isle on BBC Radio.

Massey died from cancer in July 2011, aged 73.
