PLANE TROUBLE STIRS A HITCHCOCK 'MYSTERY'

SINGAPORE, Dec, 5. — (AP) Engine trouble which delayed his plane in Bangkok caused a scare here concerning the whereabouts of film maker Alfred Hitchcock.

Hitchcock, master of the suspense thriller, was due here Saturday but failed to arrive. Local film executives said they were baffled.

The mystery was cleared up today when Paul Yue, manager for Paramount Films of Malaya, Inc., said he had received a telegram from Hitchcock saying his plane had been held up in Thailand.

Hitchcock and his wife left Hollywood in October for a combined business and pleasure trip.

Tue said Hitchcock cabled he would cancel his Singapore stop here end fly direct to Hong Kong.
