Kudos for Shirley Maclaine

"There are two kinds of talent, man-made talent and God-given talent. With man-made talent you have to work very hard. With God-given talent, you just touch it up once in a while," said Pearl Bailey.

People are asking who will be the recipient of next year's annual spring tribute from the prestigious Film Society of Lincoln Center.

Well, people can stop asking. This year it's none other than Shirley MacLaine! (A God-given talent if there ever was one.)

Yes, her famous brother, Warren Beatty, will probably be one of the guest speakers. But Warren's merely the tip of the stellar iceberg. Just think of the incredible roster that can be offered up for MacLaine, who has worked non-stop since her 1955 movie debut in Alfred Hitchcock's "The Trouble With Harry." Shirley has starred with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Robert Mitchum, James Garner, Jack Lemmon, Jack Nicholson, Marcello Mastroianni, Nicolas Cage, Meryl Streep, Kathy Bates, Chita Rivera, and on and on and on.

Well, anyway, it should be quite an evening when the popular Oscar-winner ("I deserve it!") joins the Lincoln Center pantheon that includes Charlie Chaplin, Fred Astaire, Elizabeth Taylor, Billy Wilder, Audrey Hepburn, Gregory Peck, Claudette Colbert, James Stewart, Barbara Stanwyck, Alfred Hitchcock, Bette Davis, etc., etc.
