Dietrich bracelet brings $990,000

A diamond and ruby bracelet worn by Marlene Dietrich in her only appearance in an Alfred Hitchcock film fetched $990,000 Tuesday at Sotheby's from an unidentified buyer.

The Dietrich bracelet was created in the late 1930s from various jewels in the actress' collection. She had called it her favorite and wore it in Hitchcock's 1950 film "Stage Fright" in her role as a manipulative musical star suspected of murdering her husband.

Also at the auction, the world record for the sale of a pearl necklace was broken when a 23-pearl and diamond necklace was sold for $2.31 million to another anonymous buyer. The old record of $2.2 million was set in April 1990.
