October

  • 22nd - British spy and double agent George Blake escapes from Wormwood Scrubs prison and flees to Russia. The story is later fictionalised by author Ronald Kirkbride and Hitchcock purchases the story rights with the intention of filming it as The Short Night.[1]

1971

September

  • 27th-30th - The 9th week of filming on Frenzy again sees Hitchcock suffering from a sore throat. More sequences are filmed at the Coburg Hotel, at the prison (Wormwood Scrubs), Rusk carrying the body of Babs to the potato truck, and for the opening sequence.[2]
