Peacock Hill restaurant to serve 'North by Northwest' ambience

Peacock Hill's most historic house will soon be the home of a new restaurant, officials said.

The group of investors that recently purchased the old Peacock family home said they will open a new restaurant named after one of their favorite films.

"North by Northwest," the title of a classic Alfred Hitchcock flick, should open by the end of April, said Sean Derek, one of the owners of the property and restaurant.

Derek and a close band of friends purchased the 2.3-acre Peacock Hill site in January for $305,000.

The group that purchased the property and restaurant includes Derek; her stepmother, actress Linda Evans; chef Michael Borassi; Laura Schrock; Peninsula School District official Jean Ellsworth and others.

Derek said she became a Gig Harbor resident after she was introduced to the area by Evans about six years ago.

Celebrations by Nadeau, a restaurant that was already on the site, sold its lease to the new owners, Derek said.

The new owners plan to offer an eclectic menu with plenty of seasonal items, Derek said.

"We really want the caliber you get in Seattle," she said.

The group will continue to work closely with the Performance Circle theater group, she said.

Improvements to the house are under way, Derek said.

"We're not making any structural changes. We're changing colors, chairs and art," she said.

The rights to the "North by Northwest" name were acquired from Turner Broadcasting, Derek said.
