Paramount Pictures

(Redirected from Paramount Studios)

Paramount Pictures Corporation is an American motion picture production and distribution company, based in Hollywood, California. It has become the longest-running American movie studio ever.

Paramount Pictures Inc. can trace its beginnings to the creation in May, 1912, of the Famous Players Film Company.

Alfred Hitchcock

The following Hitchcock films were produced by Paramount Pictures:

After the studio voiced concerns about the content of the project, Psycho (1960) was produced by Hitchcock's own company and distributed by Paramount.

Thanks to the unusual contract Lew Wasserman negotiated with Paramount, the rights to all the films, with the exception of To Catch a Thief, reverted to Hitchcock eight years after their first cinema release. Along with Rope (1948), these became known as "The Missing Hitchcocks" and were less frequently shown than other Hitchcock films. After the director's death, the rights transferred to Patricia Hitchcock who sold the films to Universal for a reported $6m.[1]
