Sylvia Sidney

Sylvia Sidney was an American actress.

She began her acting career on the stage before being spotted by a Hollywood talent scout in the mid-1920s.

The majority of her most well-known roles were during the 1930s, in films such as An American Tragedy (1931), Sabotage (1936), The Trail of the Lonesome Pine (1936) and You Only Live Once (1937).

Her career declined in the 1940s, although she continued to act in minor and supporting roles, including two films by Tim Burton: Beetlejuice (1988) and Mars Attacks! (1996).

She died from throat cancer in New York City at the age of 88, after a career of more than 70 years.
