The Alfred Hitchcock Hour - Return of Verge Likens
Introduction
"Return of Verge Likens" was originally broadcast on 05/Oct/1964 as part of the third season of The Alfred Hitchcock Hour.
Synopsis
Verge Likens is a farmer whose father was killed by crooked politician Riley McGrath. Likens returns home to avenge his father's death. He manages to get close to Riley by getting hired as an assistant at a barbershop. After asking the barber to run an errand, Likens is alone with McGrath and proceeds to lather up the politician for a shave. Likens vividly describes how he is planning to cut McGrath's throat. When the barber returns to the barbershop, he finds the door locked. He calls the police, who tries to force the door. Likens finished the shave, and gingerly let the police and the crowd in the door. They find Likens standing over the corpse of the politician. Likens has avenged his father's death, but is not guilty of a crime. Likens' vivid description of how he would cut the politician's throat caused McGrath to suffer a fatal heart attack. (TV.com)
