Alfred Hitchcock Presents - Back for Christmas

"Back for Christmas" (directed by Alfred Hitchcock) was originally broadcast on 04/Mar/1956 as part of the first season of Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

The story was later refilmed for Roald Dahl's UK TV series "Tales of the Unexpected".

Herbert and Hermione Carpenter plan to leave England for a stay in America. Herbert secretly plans to stay there, while Hermione wants to return to England for Chrismas. Before leaving, Herbert kills his wife and buries her in the basement. He then goes to America. There, he receives a letter from England addressed to his wife about her Christmas gift to her husband: a wine cellar. Unfortunately, the construction requires an excavation of the Carpenters' basement. (TV.com)
