Charles Joseph Hitchcock (b. 1852) - Last Will and Testament
The following is a transcription of the Last Will and Testament of Charles Joseph Hitchcock (b. 1852), who died 23/May/1915, aged 63. He was the uncle of director Alfred Hitchcock.

Last Will and Testament
THIS IS THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT of me CHARLES JOSEPH HITCHCOCK of No 11 Broadway Stratford in the County of Essex Greengrocer Fishmonger and Poulterer.
I direct that all my just debts and funeral and testamentary expenses be duly paid by my Executors and Executrix hereinafter named as soon as conveniently may be after my decease.
I give devise and bequeath all and every my household furniture linen and wearing apparel books, plate china, pictures, horses and carts and also all my every sum and sums of money which may be found in my house or be about my person or due to me at the time of my decease. And also all my stocks, funds and securities for money due on bonds, bills, notes or other securities and all and every other my estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever whether in possession or reversion remainder or expectancy unto Thomas Henry Griffith of Sutton, in the County of Surrey, Gentleman, and Henry Reynolds of Chandos Road, Stratford, in the County of Essex, Carriage Builder, and Catherine Hitchcock and the survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such survivor upon trust, as soon as conveniently may be after my decease, to collect, get in and receive such parts thereof as shall consist of moneys or securities for money and to sell dispose of and convert into money all other part of my real and personal estate either by public auction or private contract as to my said executors shall seem meet.
And upon further trust when and so soon as the whole of my real and personal estate shall have been converted into money and received upon trust for and to pay unto my dear wife Catherine Hitchcock for her sole and absolute use and I direct that the receipts of my said Executors or said Executrix for the purchase money of my real and personal estate shall be good and sufficient discharges to the purchasers thereof and that such purchasers shall not be obliged to see to the application thereof.
And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint Thomas Henry Griffith and Henry Reynolds and Catherine Hitchcock EXECUTORS and EXECUTRIX of this my Will.
And I do hereby declare that my said Executors and Executrix and the survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such survivor shall and may at all times out of the first monies that may come to their or either of their hands reimburse and indemnify themselves and himself respectively all such costs damages charges and expenses as they or either of them may be put into or sustain in and about the execution of the trusts of this my Will and that neither of them shall be answerable for any loss which may happen to the said trust premises nor for any loss which may happen from depositing any of the said trust monies in the hands keeping or custody of any public Banker nor the one for the other of them neither shall either of them be answerable for more monies than shall actually come to his hands by virtue of this my Will and hereby revoking and making void all former or other Wills by me at any time heretofore made.
I do declare this to be my last Will and Testament IN WITNESS whereof I, the said Charles Joseph Hitchcock, have to this last Will and Testament set my hand this Seventh day of February One thousand eight Hundred and eighty two.
