British Film Heads Come to Salary Boost

LONDON, Nov. 14

An era of big salaries for English film directors, whose pay has hitherto been relatively small, has just been opened by British International Pictures, who have re-engaged Alfred Hitchcock at a yearly salary of $35,000.

Hitchcock, who is only 28, started work in the films with the Famous Players-Lasky company when they had a studio in London. He produced for the British International Pictures "The Ring," hailed as the best English film ever made.
