British Girl Makes Hit on Broadway
New York, Thursday.
Broadway today welcomed a petite new star in Pat Hitchcock, 12-years-old daughter of the British film director Alfred Hitchcock. She is playing the lead in John Van Druten's new play "Solitaire" which opened last night.
The plot deals with the companionship of a tramp and a young girl of a wealthy but unsympathetic family.
The critics gave the play a pleasant reception, but reserved the highest praise for Pat, who is on the stage for most of the three acts and handled a difficult part with great charm.
Pat a slender brown haired girl with an impish smile, said "I never had any ambitions to be an actress."
