Gus Van Sant
Gus Green Van Sant, Jr. is an American film director and screenwriter. He is a two-time nominee of the Academy Award for Best Director and won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival for his film "Elephant" (2003).
Following the success of "Good Will Hunting", he took the opportunity to remake the Alfred Hitchcock film "Psycho". Rather than reinterpreting it, Van Sant opted to recreate the film shot-for-shot in color. The remake met with critical reviews and did poorly at the box office.
