December
- Screenwriter John Michael Hayes and his wife spend two weeks at the Hotel Carlton in Cannes researching the area in preparation for starting the screenplay for To Catch a Thief.[1]
1954
May
- The prinipal cast members of To Catch a Thief — Cary Grant, Grace Kelly, Jessie Royce Landis and John Williams — arrive in Cannes where they stay at the Carlton Hotel. John Michael Hayes joins them where he works with Hitchcock to tighten the screenplay.[2][3]
1963
May
- 9th - The Hitchcocks and Tippi Hedren fly from Paris to Nice, before travelling on to Cannes. A evening cocktail reception is held in the ballroom of Les Ambassadeurs with 1,000 invited guests before the black-tie showing of The Birds at 9:30pm. Afterwards, a formal dinner is held at the Carlton Hotel for around 300 guests.[4]
1972
May
- 15th - The Hitchcocks arrive in Cannes and stay at the Carlton Hotel.[5]
