December
- 15th - Second unit footage of the ferry trip to Bedloe Island and the Statue of Liberty is shot. A double stands in for Priscilla Lane but Norman Lloyd is in New York City and takes part in the filming. The sequence is supposed to take place on a sunny spring day, so extras have to wear light summer clothes despite the bitterly cold weather.[1]
1947
October
- The House Committee on Un-American Activities begins a series of hearings in Washington D.C. to root out Communist influences in Hollywood. Among those affected by the subsequent Hollywood blacklist with links to Hitchcock are writers Arthur Laurents and Dorothy Parker, actors Hume Cronyn, Norman Lloyd and Canada Lee, actress Barbara Bel Geddes, and composer Lyn Murray.[2][3]
1962
August
- 9th - The first complete rough cut of The Birds is screened to a select group, including Alma Reville, Patricia Hitchcock, Taft Schreiber (MCA executive), Herman Citron, Arthur Park, Jerry Adler (theater director), Vince Dee, Bernard Herrmann, Bill Blowitz (Head of Publicity at Universal), George Thomas, Joan Harrison and Norman Lloyd.[4]
1978
July
- Norman Lloyd begins helping Hitchcock on the pre-prodcution of The Short Night.[5]
September
- Feeling that they're still not ready to develop a full script, Norman Lloyd ends his work on The Short Night.[6]
