- Although educated in engineering, Hitchcock soon realises that he doesn't want to become an engineer and so enrols on a evening course at Goldsmiths College to study art. The course leads to his appreciation of fine art and to a deeper interest in theatre and film.[1] During this period, Hitchcock increasingly seeks out new plays and films.
