House by the Railroad

House by the Railroad in a 1925 oil on canvas painting by renowned American artist Edward Hopper. It currently resides at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

The painting is regarded as a strong influence on the design on the Bates Motel house in the Alfred Hitchcock film Psycho (1960), which was designed by Joseph Hurley and Robert Clatworthy.
