Johan Grimonprez
Biography
Johan Grimonprez was born in Roeselare, Belgium in 1962. He studied at the School of Visual Arts and attended the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program in New York.
In 2005, Grimonprez directed a 10 minute short film Looking for Alfred, which used a number of look-a-likes to deconstruct Hitchcock's cameo appearances and to "conjure up an unexpected narrative". In 2007, Johan Grimonprez: Looking for Alfred was published, which further explored the themes of reality, doppelgängers & multiplicity.
Grimonprez returned to these themes in the feature-length Double Take, released in 2009.
