ELIOT STANNARD PASSES

Pioneer Scenarist

British Studio old-timers will learn with regret of the death, aged 57, of Eliot Stannard, surely the most prolific scenario writer of all time. Son of "John Strange Winter," authoress of "Bootle's Baby," he was always known as "Bootles" to his friends.

Stannard, who had over 300 feature scripts produced, thought nothing of writing three or four at once ; and practically every British producer engaged him from 1912 till 1930. For the last year or so he has been with G-B Screen Services.

Possessed of a mordant wit and brutal candour, he was a real character, and as a result always stimulating company.
