Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. is an American media company, involved primarily in the production and distribution of films and television programs.

Once the largest and most glamorous of film studios, MGM was founded in 1924 when the entertainment entrepreneur Marcus Loew gained control of Metro Pictures, Goldwyn Pictures Corporation and Louis B. Mayer Pictures

MGM was acquired in 2004 by a partnership led by Sony Corporation of America, Comcast and other investors.

Alfred Hitchcock

Hitchcock made one film for MGM, North by Northwest (1959).

In 1996, Turner Entertainment acquired the rights to MGM's back catalogue and the film is currently distributed by Warner Bros.
