Biography
Maurice Elvey (1887-1967) was the most prolific film director in British history. He directed nearly 200 films between 1913 and 1957. During the silent film era he directed as many as twenty films per year.
Alma Reville appeared in Elvey's 1918 film The Life Story of David Lloyd George (1918) and worked for several years as an assistant to the director.
In 1932, Elvey directed Ivor Novello in a sound remake of Hitchcock's The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog (1927).
