Abstact

The 'woman's picture' "Rebecca" (1940), which was thriller maker Alfred Hitchcock's first American film, is analysed. Focusing on women protagonists, it presented strong characterisations and a complex narrative of a woman's life path, typical of Hollywood films of the time.
