Site Documentation: DVD Pages

Each DVD listed in the site has a unique 4 digit ID number. Although this is partly due to the database structure from the previous version of the site, it is still used to organise DVD content in the Wiki.

For example, the original US DVD release of Psycho has been allocated the unique ID "5601", which means...

• the thumbnail cover scan can be shown by using [[Image:5601.gif]]

• a link to the DVD page can be created by using {{5601}} or {{Template:5601}}

• the full title of the DVD can be retrieved using {{5601t}} or {{Template:5601t}}

• you can also use the title template to create a link with alternative text, e.g. ...the [[{{5601t}}|US release]] is best...

...the US release is best...

• a short full URL link to the DVD page is http://the.hitchcock.zone/wiki/5601

• the larger version of the front cover is at https://thejar.hitchcock.zone/files/images/5601.jpg

• the covers scans and screengrabs can be inserted into a page by using <dvdimages>5601</dvdimages>

• a link to the relevant Amazon site can usually be inserted using the ASIN number (shown on the Amazon product page) and a country code ("uk", "usa", "de", or "fr") <amazon>0783225849 usa</amazon>

Adding New DVDs

New DVDs should only be added to the site by an administrator, as a new ID has to be allocated, and a series of templates created.
