THE FILM WORLD.

BRITISH PRODUCERS' PLANS.

The Ideal Film Company is to begin work at its new studios at Elstree this week. An ambitious programme of British film production has been arranged, beginning with a screen version of Bleak House, in which Miss Constance Collier is to create the leading part.

Finally comes the announcement that the Famous Players-Lasky British Producers (Limited) have secured premises at Islington which are being converted into studios. They were originally the power station of the Metropolitan Railway and consist of two big glass buildings. Two stages are being built, one of them 115ft. wide and 48ft. deep, and the other 100ft. wide and 68ft. deep. Dressing room accommodation for 100 artists is also being provided and one of the first pictures to be produced there will be an adaptation of The Great Day, the drama which is now running at Drury Lane.
