Val Gielgud

Val Henry Gielgud (1900–1981) was an English actor, writer, director and broadcaster, and was the brother of actor John Geilgud.

He was a pioneer of radio drama for the BBC, and also directed the first drama to be produced on British television.

In January 1929, Gielgud was appointed Head of Productions at the BBC, responsible for all radio drama.

In March 1937, he took part in a radio debate with director Alfred Hitchcock titled "Shakespeare: Broadcasting and the Cinema".
