Alfred Hitchcock and Roy Thinnes disagreed on the interpretation of the young actor's role in "Deceit" after a scene in San Francisco. William Devane replaces Thinnes.

Hitch was enthusiastic about Thinnes after seeing his footage in Bob Wise's "Hindenburg" also for Universal.

Actor's don't tell Hitch; he tells them.
