Frenzy was filmed over a period of 13 weeks, starting in late July 1971, with principal photography ending on October 14th.
Exterior scenes were filmed at various locations in London, predominantly centred around the Covent Garden area, including:
- Tower Bridge and London County Hall, on the banks of the River Thames, were used for the opening scenes
- market scenes were filmed at Covent Garden Market, along with exterior shots of Bob Rusk's house on the adjacent Henrietta Street, and the nearby Nell of Old Drury and The Globe public houses
- the Coburg Hotel on Bayswater Road, Hyde Park and the London Hilton on Park Lane
- Brenda Blaney's flat in Ennismore Gardens Mews and her Blaney Bureau office, situated just off Oxford Street
- New Scotland Yard on Broadway
- Wormwood Scrubs prison and St. Mary Abbot's Hospital
Permission was granted for Hitchcock to film inside the Old Bailey during the first full weekend of August.
The majority of the interior scenes were filmed at Pinewood Studios, with Syd Cain working as the production designer.
