Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the cinema, a number of websites are reporting that Michael Bay is still trying to get a remake of The Birds (1963) off the ground. If you’ve got a long memory, you’ll know that Bay has been pushing this project since 2005.

Back in 2005, Tippi Hedren was filled with outrage over the plans:
It’s appalling, I find it so offensive. To take a work of art like that and try to copy it is like trying to imitate the Mona Lisa.
However, it was hard to take her comments too seriously seeing as she starred in frankly awful The Birds II: Land’s End (1994) ;-) With a rating of 2.7, that film is sitting just outside the IMDB list of the worst 100 films ever made.
Hitchcock’s heirs should have veto powers over this kind of thing.
